McDonough Appraisal Service: Using Technology to Improve Your Customer ExperienceAt McDonough Appraisal Service, we have a confession to make: We are technology junkies. From smart phones, to laptops, GPS, you name it. Call us geeks. Call us nerds. Call us what you will, but by all means, call us at (661) 729-5016 for appraisal orders in Los Angeles County! Why? We're glad you asked.
The appraisal process has significantly evolved in recent years and demands more than ever from appraisers. We put quality first, but we know that turnaround time is critical for many clients. Therefore, we've simply optimized our routine processes to do more in less time. The appraisers that have continually invested in new technology have been the ones able to consistently satisfy their customers with more accurate reports, better customer service and faster turnaround times.
In the past, the majority of orders arrived via fax and were confirmed with phone calls once we got back into the office. Often, in this scenario, it might of taken quite a while to hear back to see if the order could be taken. Things are quite a bit different now and when an order is placed on the site, we receive an e-mail on our phones. We often log into this site from the field and send back an e-mail confirmation – including the time and date for the inspection if we've been able to talk to the occupant.
Innovating the Ordering Experience
McDonough Appraisal Service understands that real estate is all about timeliness. We don't make you wait around for replies because we understand the speed at which we get things done directly effects your bottom-line. This website has proven to reduce cycle time for us and our clients by enhancing our communications.
Using Technology in the FieldOne of the most time consuming parts of an appraisal is gathering the data. We spend a great deal of time collecting both specific information about the subject property and general data about the local market and developing trends. Once again, technology has stepped in to help McDonough Appraisal Service.
We've learned that taking notes the standard way, using pencil and paper, generally takes longer since we we have to enter everything back in at the office. Don't be surprised to see us with a tablet PC or collecting data using a program written for our phones that even lets us sketch a floorplan right on the spot. And instead of using an outdated tape measure, we're seeing that more appraisers are beginning to use laser measuring devices that are quicker, more accurate, and can get into places that normal tape measures have always had problems with.
Using this technology allows us to ensure that your report is reliable and complete, requiring fewer call-backs and revisions. A real money saver for busy appraisal clients.
Modern appraisal report delivery ensures our clients have a number of ways to get their reportAt a very minimum, you can expect us to deliver your final report electronically as a PDF. Most of our clients prefer e-mail because we're all accustomed to getting attachments like PDFs in our mail. It's a lot faster than the old days before e-mail. But, we've even been able to innovate how you receive your report with this website.
Ever lost a file that was sent to you? Or have you ever had an attachment blocked because it was too big? We've come up with a solution for those problems, too. When we deliver an appraisal through this website, the client is e-mailed a download link to retrieve the PDF. So, at that point, it doesn't matter if all the extra photos and maps in the report result in a large file that would normally be blocked by e-mail. And the download link is good for 90 days. So if you lose the file, you can log back in here and retrieve it again - saving you time, since we won't even need to run back to the computer.
Finally, we use all digital workfiles...It would probably be easier if appraisers could complete an assignment, deliver it and never be concerned with seeing that document again. However, appraisals are used to show the condition of a property on the inspection date. Therefore, appraisers need to keep their reports for 5 years in case any disputes or other matters arise regarding the property.
Here again, McDonough Appraisal Service leverages our investment in technology to improve service. By storing every aspect of the appraisal - notes, sketches, supporting documentation and calculations - along with the appraisal electronically, we can pull up the entire file whenever it's needed and recall just what that job was about.
These are just a few examples of how we use technology daily. Utilizing the right software, services, gadgets and gizmos allows the appraiser to collect the appraisal data to finish the report faster and more accurately than previously possible.
